   <\/strong>Jeremy Tatum writes that yesterday, August 31, there were a dozen or so Ringlets <\/strong>Coenonympha tullia<\/em><\/strong> at Layritz Park.<\/p>\n

   <\/strong>Jochen M\u00f6hr’s moths from Metchosin this morning:<\/p>\n

2 Ennomos magnaria<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

2 Eulithis xylina<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

10 Lacinipolia pensilis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

4 Neoalcis californiaria<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

2 Noctua pronuba<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Tolype distincta<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Jochen writes that in July he had 584 individuals of 73 species<\/p>\n

                    and in August  he had 350 individuals of 50 species<\/p>\n

  Five optimists attended the Monthly Butterfly Walk <\/strong>for September<\/strong>, optimistically hoping to see some butterflies in Victoria in this month.  Their optimism – and energy – were rewarded with four species, which is not bad for the time of year.  Four Woodland Skippers <\/strong>and five Cabbage Whites <\/strong> in Finnerty Gardens, UVic.  45 Cabbage Whites, 2 Woodland Skippers, 1 Purplish Copper, <\/strong>and one very fresh Painted Lady <\/strong>at McIntyre Reservoir (where we were glad to see a few small new Teasels in flower), and two not-so-fresh Painted Ladies <\/strong>near the Jeffery Pine on Mount Tolmie.<\/p>\n
