(probably <em>sanguinipes <\/em> or <em>femurrubrum <\/em>or similar) (Orth.: Acrididae)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Cheryl Hoyle<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pastedImage.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/pastedImage-163.png\" width=\"597.6\" height=\"493.84307178631053\" name=\"null\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Cabbage White <em>Pieris rapae <\/em>(Lep.: Pieridae)\u00a0 Cheryl Hoyle<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 Jeremy Tatum writes: My guess at the dragonfly below was <em>Aeshna palmata<\/em>, but Dr Cannings was kind enough to put me at my ease by saying that females of this species and <strong><em>Rhionaeschna multicolor<\/em><\/strong> can be hard to tell apart from photographs.\u00a0 He points to the pale areas beside the base of the T-spot on the top of the face, which make it more likely that the photograph is of the latter species.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pastedImage.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/pastedImage-164.png\" name=\"null\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Blue-eyed Darner <em>Rhionaeschna multicolor <\/em>(Odo.: Aeshnidae)\u00a0 Cheryl Hoyle<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Cabbage Whites <\/strong>and <strong>Woodland Skippers <\/strong>are still common, but other butterflies are becoming scarce.
