\u00a0 More moths, and a spider, from Jochen M\u00f6hr\u2019s haul \u00a0yesterday in Metchosin:<\/p>\n

Lacinipolia pensilis <\/em>(Lep.: Noctuidae)\u00a0 Jochen M\u00f6hr<\/p>\n

\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Coryphista meadii <\/em>(Lep.: Geometridae)\u00a0 Jochen M\u00f6hr<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Although it is is a rather worn specimen, it is a rare individual in which one can see clearly that it is indeed Coryphista meadii <\/em>\u00a0and not Triphosa haesitata. <\/em>The fourth tooth on the outer margin of the hindwing is clearly much smaller than the adjacent teeth, and there is clearly a dark elongated spot in the forewing disc, thus satisfying two of the most important of Jeremy Gatten\u2019s criteria.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Val George writes:\u00a0 Yesterday, July 21, the Victoria Natural History Society had a botany trip to Mount Washington.\u00a0 Though the main focus of the group was the sub-alpine flowers, a few of us took some time to look for butterflies.\u00a0 We saw ten species:\u00a0 Hydaspe<\/strong> and Western Meadow Fritillaries<\/strong> (photos attached), Boisduval’s <\/strong>and Anna’s Blues,<\/strong> Painted Lady<\/strong>, Satyr <\/strong>and Green Commas<\/strong>, Mariposa Copper<\/strong>, Clodius Parnassian<\/strong>, and Cabbage White<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
