{"id":8263,"date":"2019-06-18T11:33:05","date_gmt":"2019-06-18T18:33:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=8263"},"modified":"2019-06-19T09:37:34","modified_gmt":"2019-06-19T16:37:34","slug":"june-18-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=8263","title":{"rendered":"June 18 morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>2019 June 18 morning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Jeremy Tatum writes:\u00a0 I walked a little way along the railway north of Cowichan Station yesterday.\u00a0 Both sides of the railway have been sprayed with herbicide, doing a very good job of destroying the vegetation there.\u00a0 In spite of that, I saw a <strong>Clodius Parnassian<\/strong> and about 10 <strong>Margined Whites.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>These were second generation, in which at least the males are absolutely pure immaculate white on both wings, above and below, unlike the early spring generation in which there is some maculation above, and the veins on the underside of the hindwings are heavily emphasized,\u00a0 Also seen were about half-a-dozen each of <strong>Lorquin\u2019s Admiral<\/strong> and <strong>Western Tiger Swallowtail<\/strong>, and it seemed every few yards a <strong>Common Whitetail <\/strong>dragonfly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0\u00a0 Jochen M\u00f6hr writes from Metchosin:\u00a0 After five days of NOTHING, which may be even more noteworthy than the two individuals, who kindly volunteered to appear on my wall finally, I got these two, tentatively identified as <em>L. cuneata<\/em> and <em>Hydriomena <\/em>sp<em>.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0Libby Avis writes:\u00a0 <strong> <em>Hydriomena speciosata<\/em><\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> plus agree on<strong><em> Lacinipolia<\/em><\/strong> &#8211;
