   <\/strong>Cheryl Hoyle sends a photograph of a snakefly<\/strong> from Saanich.   A close-up of the top of the head of a snakefly is often helpful in the identification.  Although we cannot be certain of the exact identity of this individual, it is very likely in  the Family Raphidiidae, probably genus Agulla<\/em>, and maybe A. assimilis.<\/em><\/p>\n

   Rosemary Jorna writes:  Fire hazard already closed the gate at Mount Pr\u00e9vost, so we parked and walked up to the first side road anyway. We were rewarded with 3 Clodius Parnassian<\/strong> butterflies. Two of them permitted photographs, which I have included. There were 4 Pale Tiger Swallowtails<\/strong> along the road who refused to be photographed.<\/p>\n

   Rosemary continues:  The June 15 VNHS outing to the Cowichan River Estuary, Providence Farm and Mount Pr\u00e9vost met Western Tiger Swallowtails<\/strong> steadily along the way   –  10 to 12.  There were fresh  Lorquin’s Admirals<\/strong> flying along the whole route – 18 to 20 during the day. At the Cowichan River Estuary there were five or six Essex Skippers:<\/strong><\/p>\n
