A light breeze was blowing.\u00a0 I saw at least two more of the <strong>Sheep Moth<\/strong>s I had seen a week ago. Much paler coloration this time and lacking those lovely pink hues. I also saw several <strong>Lorquin&#8217;s Admirals, Western\u00a0Tiger<\/strong> <strong>Swallowtails <\/strong> and <strong>Painted Ladies<\/strong>. There were only a few <strong>Cabbage Whites<\/strong> in comparison with the other numbers of butterflies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"width: 624px; margin: 5px;\" src=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/jtatum\/AppData\/Local\/Temp\/msohtmlclip1\/01\/clip_image002.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pastedImage.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/pastedImage-60.png\" width=\"579.2\" height=\"422.33333333333337\" name=\"null\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Lorquin\u2019s Admiral <em>Limenitis lorquini <\/em>(Lep.: Nymphalidae)\u00a0 Marie O\u2019Shaughnessy<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 Gordon Hart sends photographs of two <strong>California Darner <\/strong>dragonflies from his Highlands property.\u00a0 We thank Rob Cannings for confirming their identification. \u00a0One of the dragonflies is in process of eating a pentatomid bug.\u00a0 Gordon sends some rather gruesome details of this \u2013 too gruesome, I think, for the delicate sensibilities of readers of this site.\u00a0 \u00a0Rob writes:\u00a0 Both are <strong> <em>Rhionaeschna californica<\/em><\/strong>. The first (lateral view, eating the bug) is a female; the other is a male. The female shows the typical rather straight lateral thoracic stripes, somewhat more slanted towards the rear than in most darners. Note the black borders to these stripes, especially on the back edge.\u00a0 The stripes on the front of the thorax usually seen in other species are absent (best seen in the male individual here).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"width: 560px;
