{"id":6143,"date":"2018-05-20T19:48:24","date_gmt":"2018-05-21T02:48:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=6143"},"modified":"2018-10-08T10:22:22","modified_gmt":"2018-10-08T17:22:22","slug":"may-20-evening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=6143","title":{"rendered":"May 20 evening"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>2018 May 20 evening<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Andrew Simon and Scott and Sable Gilmore, while conducting a mini bioblitz on Galiano Island yesterday, came across two <strong>snake<\/strong><strong>flies.\u00a0 <\/strong>We are grateful to Chris Ratzlaff of the Spencer Entomological Museum for identifying them as <strong><em>Agulla assimilis.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong> Dr Ratzlaff remarks: &#8220;<span dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: Whitney,Trebuchet MS,Arial,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">The pale scape (instead of black) and the long pterostigma are key characteristics of this species.
