{"id":6060,"date":"2018-05-13T19:48:54","date_gmt":"2018-05-14T02:48:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=6060"},"modified":"2018-05-17T08:57:34","modified_gmt":"2018-05-17T15:57:34","slug":"may-13-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=6060","title":{"rendered":"May 13"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>2018 May 13 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Jeremy Tatum writes:\u00a0 Today I saw a <strong>Moss\u2019s Elfin<\/strong> in Gore Park, Central Saanich, and another one in Gowlland Tod Park.\u00a0 At 6:00 p.m. there was some activity at the top of Mount Tolmie.\u00a0 Nothing sitting on the top of the reservoir, but a <strong>Pale Tiger Swallowtail <\/strong>\u00a0and two <strong>Western Tiger Swallowtails <\/strong>flew overhead, an <strong>Anise Swallowtail<\/strong> was flying around the rocky summit, and a <strong>Painted Lady<\/strong> was flying around the Jeffery Pine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0 Had just written that, when the following came in from Val George \u2013 who reports more or less the same as me!\u00a0 Val writes:\u00a0 This afternoon, May 13, I saw my first <strong>Pale Swallowtail<\/strong> of the season on Mount Tolmie.\u00a0 In fact, all three of our swallowtail species were there.\u00a0 My total count was<strong>:\u00a0 2 Pale Swallowtail, 2 Anise Swallowtail, 1 Western Tiger Swallowtail, 2 Painted Lady, 3 Cabbage White, several Western Spring Azure.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0\u00a0 Jeremy continues:\u00a0\u00a0 Here is a caterpillar found on Indian Plum on Christmas Hill:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"width: 624px;
