{"id":5236,"date":"2017-10-16T16:16:40","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T23:16:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=5236"},"modified":"2017-10-16T16:17:22","modified_gmt":"2017-10-16T23:17:22","slug":"october-16-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=5236","title":{"rendered":"October 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>2017 October 16<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>Jeremy Gatten writes:&nbsp; The nice weather yesterday resulted in a surprising number of dragonfly and butterfly species on the wing today.&nbsp; The highlight of my day was my first  <strong>American Lady<\/strong> for BC, which was at Albert Head Lagoon.&nbsp; Also at Albert Head Lagoon were several  <strong>Cabbage Whites<\/strong>, a female&nbsp;<strong>Common Green Darner<\/strong> and what I believe was a  <strong>Paddle-tailed Darner<\/strong>.&nbsp; At Witty&#8217;s Lagoon, I had one <strong>Cardinal Meadowhawk<\/strong> and a few  <strong>Autumn Meadowhawks<\/strong>.&nbsp;[The Autumn Meadowhawk is also known as the Yellow-legged Meadowhawk  <em>Sympetrum vicinum<\/em>.] Moving on to Swanwick Road, I had a <strong>Painted Lady<\/strong> and a  <strong>Striped Meadowhawk<\/strong>.&nbsp; Reasonable numbers of moths around at Hans Helgesen Elementary School, including:  <strong><em>Agrochola purpurea<\/em><\/strong><strong> (2), <\/strong><strong><em>Orthosia mys<\/em><\/strong><strong> (3),  <\/strong><strong><em>Epirrita autumnata<\/em><\/strong><strong> (4), <\/strong><strong><em>Philedia punctomacularia<\/em><\/strong><strong> (1),  <\/strong><strong><em>Tetracis<\/em><\/strong><strong> sp.
