Jochen Moehr<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Val George writes:&nbsp; Bryan Gates and I were on Mount Washington on September 4 checking out the banded Grey Jays when we saw this butterfly.&nbsp; A tough identification, but I&#8217;m pretty sure it&#8217;s a  <strong>Hoary Comma <\/strong><strong><em>Polygonia gracilis<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Jeremy Tatum comments:&nbsp; I am more than happy to label this as a <strong>Hoary Comma  <\/strong><strong><em>Polygonia gracilis<\/em><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong>  As described on the August 28 posting, I am for the time being treating the forms  <em>gracilis, zephyrus <\/em>and <em>oreas <\/em>as conspecific under the name <em>  gracilis.<\/em>&nbsp; Val&#8217;s photograph shows very well the &#8220;greenish yellow submarginal spots&#8221; described by Guppy and Shepard under the name  <em>zephyrus<\/em>.&nbsp; What is not clear is whether these spots are specific to the form  <em>zephyrus<\/em>, or whether they may also occur in the other forms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" class=\"\" alt=\"\" src=\"file:\/\/\/F:\/DOCUME%7E1\/tatum\/LOCALS%7E1\/Temp\/msohtml1\/01\/clip_image004.jpg\">  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" originalheight=\"875\" originalwidth=\"1200\" name=\"\" title=\"Hoary Comma.jpg\" height=\"434.5833333333333\" width=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Hoary-Comma.jpg\">  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Hoary Comma <em>Polygonia gracilis <\/em>(Lep.: Nymphalidae)&nbsp; Val George<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>Jeff Gaskin writes that there was a lone <strong>Lorquin&#8217;s Admiral<\/strong> on the Cedar Hill Golf Course today, September 6, at just about 9:15 a.m.&nbsp; It was on the right hand side of the course just south of the club house.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Jeremy Tatum writes that at the back door of his apartment this morning were  <strong>2 <\/strong><strong><em>Neoalcis californiaria <\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;and <strong>  1 <\/strong><strong><em>Drepanulatrix monicaria<\/em><\/strong><strong> <\/strong>&#8211;
