{"id":314,"date":"2015-09-14T16:20:20","date_gmt":"2015-09-14T23:20:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=314"},"modified":"2016-03-13T16:38:00","modified_gmt":"2016-03-13T23:38:00","slug":"sept-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=314","title":{"rendered":"Sept 13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">2015 September 13<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">Cheryl Hoyle sends photographs of two caterpillars from Metchosin.&nbsp; The first is a <strong>Tiger Swallowtail &#8211; <\/strong>I cannot tell which species.&nbsp; Shortly before pupation these caterpillars turn brown and wander around away from their foodplant, looking for somewhere to pupate. &nbsp;&nbsp;It looks as though this one has already found a place to pupate, and it has already spun its silken girdle. Cheryl Hoyle<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">&nbsp; She also sends a photograph of a plusiine moth <em><strong>Autographa californica<\/strong><\/em> from View Royal.&nbsp; Jeremy Tatum<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">&nbsp;&nbsp; I saw my first <strong>Banded Woolly Bear<\/strong> of the season at Metchosin Lagoon today.&nbsp; October is the peak season for these caterpillars, and we should be seeing more of them in the next few weeks.&nbsp;
