Satyrinae)\u00a0 Val George<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 Marie O\u2019Shaughnessy sends a photograph of a <strong>Western Pondhawk<\/strong> from MacIntyre reservoir July 25.\u00a0 We were initially unsure whether this was a Western Pondhawk or the somewhat similar Blue Dasher, and we are grateful to Rob Cannings for identifying it for us.\u00a0 Rob makes the interesting observation that the Western Pondhawk often perches on the ground, while the Blue Dasher rarely does.\u00a0 That will be something for dragonfly watchers to look out for!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Marie Dragon.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Marie-Dragon.jpg\" width=\"599.2\" height=\"448.20160000000004\" name=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" src=\"file:\/\/\/F:\/DOCUME%7E1\/tatum\/LOCALS%7E1\/Temp\/msohtml1\/01\/clip_image004.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>Male Western Pondhawk <em>Erythemis collocata <\/em>(Odo.: Libellulidae) Marie O\u2019Shaughnessy<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Tatum writes:\u00a0 I saw a <strong>Western Tiger Swallowtail<\/strong> today at Cresswell Road (near the Airport).\u00a0 Also there was a <strong>sesiid (clearwing moth)<\/strong>.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t manage to identify it, but sesiids are always exciting &#8211; I certainly don\u2019t get to see one every year.\u00a0 At 6:45 pm this evening, the usual nymphalids were hill-topping on Mount Tolmie.\u00a0 Three <strong>Red Admirals<\/strong>:\u00a0 two on the reservoir (one on the paint blotches &#8211;
