{"id":3016,"date":"2016-07-26T15:49:39","date_gmt":"2016-07-26T23:49:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=3016"},"modified":"2016-07-27T16:25:48","modified_gmt":"2016-07-27T23:25:48","slug":"july-26-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=3016","title":{"rendered":"July 26"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>2016 July 26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Request from Jeremy Tatum.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong> We are receiving photographs of a wonderful variety of insects and other invertebrates.\u00a0 Often the photographer doesn\u2019t know the species, and it is then great fun for us to track it down, and we enjoy doing that.\u00a0 However, sometimes you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do<\/span> know the species.\u00a0 If you do already know the species that you have photographed, please indicate what the species is &#8211; otherwise I have to spend time trying to identify it myself!\u00a0 Thanks!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gordon Hart writes:\u00a0 The July count was down in numbers from June, but there were still 13 species compared with 11 last year. We had more <strong>Cabbage Whites<\/strong> and <strong>Pine Whites<\/strong> than 2015, but far fewer <strong>Woodland Skippers<\/strong>. Jeff Gaskin says that Lynda Dowling had already harvested her lavender, which last year accounted for over 1000 skippers. I had recorded only one <strong>Grey Hairstreak<\/strong> (in our yard), until I saw Nathan Fisk\u2019s photo on the Invertalert from Fort Rodd Hill within the count period. I saw two others just prior to the count in the Pike Lake area, but I could not find them again.
