{"id":2651,"date":"2016-06-07T19:09:14","date_gmt":"2016-06-08T03:09:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=2651"},"modified":"2016-06-10T15:14:05","modified_gmt":"2016-06-10T22:14:05","slug":"june-7-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=2651","title":{"rendered":"June 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>2016 June 7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Guidelines for Submissions. <\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(Jeremy Tatum) Running this website is great fun and very enjoyable, and I am impressed by the huge variety of insects and other invertebrates reported, and the quality of the photographs.\u00a0 But it does take a bit of time!\u00a0 Generally on average it takes about ten minutes to process each photograph &#8211; provided there are no problems &#8211; and there usually are!\u00a0 Thus if one day a posting includes, say, 12 photographs, you may assume that it took about two hours to put it together.\u00a0 Contributors can be an enormous help of they will conform to the following guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Please send photographs as attachments, not embedded in the main message.<\/p>\n<p>For each photograph submitted, please give:<\/p>\n<p>Name of photographer<\/p>\n<p>Where it was taken (not \u201cin my backyard\u201d\u00a0 &#8211; I do not know where your backyard is)<\/p>\n<p>The date on which it was taken (not \u201cyesterday\u201d, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> the date<\/span>.)<\/p>\n<p>If you know for certain what the species is, please state what the species is &#8211; please do not assume that I immediately must know what it is.\u00a0 If you do not know, I, or one of a handful of experts that I consult, may be able to identify it, and will enjoy doing so, but please don\u2019t put us through the effort of identification if you already know what it is!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If contributors can comply with these, it will be a huge help and greatly cut down on the time that it takes to process your observations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gordon Hart writes:\u00a0 On June 6 while on my way to search for the Chestnut-sided Warbler, I saw several <strong>Essex Skippers <\/strong>along the path parallel to Saanich Road. I counted six, but I am sure there were many more in the meadows there. Best sightings were a slow flyby <strong>Great Arctic<\/strong>, several cruising <strong>Western Meadow Fritillaries<\/strong>, and a couple of\u00a0possible <strong>Boisduval&#8217;s Blues<\/strong> (rare\u00a0low elevation sighting?)\u00a0. The complete list was:<br \/>\n<strong>Pale Tiger Swallowtail 6; Western Spring Azure 9; Lorquin\u2019s Admiral 8, Western Tiger Swallowtail 3, <\/strong>and the <strong>one Mylitta Crescent<\/strong>.
