{"id":2607,"date":"2016-06-02T15:09:42","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T23:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=2607"},"modified":"2016-06-02T16:16:04","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T23:16:04","slug":"june-2-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=2607","title":{"rendered":"June 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Monthly Butterfly Walk.<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>  Sunday June 5.&nbsp; Meet at the top of Mount Tolmie at 1:00 p.m.&nbsp; All welcome!&nbsp;&nbsp; We decide on a destination by mutual consent when we meet at Mount Tolmie.&nbsp; One possibility that has been mentioned is Boas Road, near Spectacle Lake for Boisduval&#8217;s Blue.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Aziza Cooper sends pictures of a bombyliid fly from the field east of Lochside Trail, south of Lohbrunner Road, June 1;&nbsp; and a damselfly along the railroad tracks at Goldstream, May 30.&nbsp; Jeremy Tatum writes:&nbsp; I&#8217;ll have a stab at identifying them, though   I&#8217;d be glad of confirmation from anyone who knows these insects.&nbsp; The fly is <strong>  <em>Anthrax <\/em><\/strong><strong>sp.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As for the exact species, I can&#8217;t be sure, but I&#8217;d guess either <em>A. georgicus  <\/em>&nbsp;or <em>A. analis<\/em>.&nbsp; These may be synonyms for the same species. The larvae are said to be parasitoidal on tiger beetles.&nbsp; I think the damselfly is the  <strong>Western Red Damsel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" originalheight=\"871\" originalwidth=\"1094\" name=\"\" title=\"Anthrax.JPG\" height=\"474.5118829981718\" width=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Anthrax.jpg\">  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Anthrax <\/em>sp.
