{"id":23792,"date":"2024-10-12T21:27:55","date_gmt":"2024-10-13T04:27:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=23792"},"modified":"2024-10-13T17:49:20","modified_gmt":"2024-10-14T00:49:20","slug":"2024-october-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=23792","title":{"rendered":"2024 October 12"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>2024 October 12<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jeff Gaskin writes:\u00a0\u00a0 Today was a great day for butterflies.\u00a0 I found a <strong>Painted Lady<\/strong> at the top of Christmas Hill at 2:45 p.m. on the north summit.\u00a0 The rest of my butterflies were <strong>Cabbage Whites<\/strong> but yet I found four of them.\u00a0 One was along Saanich Road where it meets up with the Lochside trail near Lodge Avenue and the other three were in the Burnside\/Gorge community.<\/p>\n<p>Aziza Cooper writes:\u00a0 On a drive today, coming back from Jordan River, I saw two white butterflies, a <strong>Cabbage White<\/strong> along Highway 1 east of Tillicum Road, and one crossing Sooke Road near the traffic light at the town centre. The second one could have been a Pine White, but my view was very brief.<\/p>\n<p>At Jordan River today, Colin Veerkamp told me he saw a <strong>Purplish Copper<\/strong> briefly. Val George saw a butterfly which may have been the same one. Colin also told me he saw up to 15 Purplish Coppers at the Cowichan Bay Dock Road &#8220;about a month ago&#8221;.
