The weather was perfect: warm and sunny. We visited four sites and saw a total of 12 species.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mount Tolmie:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anise Swallowtail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pale Swallowtail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Western Tiger Swallowtail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Propertius Duskywing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring Azure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cabbage White<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lupin patch next to Sooke Road at Highway 1 overpass:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Silvery Blue <\/strong>&#8211; 6 or more<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red Admiral<\/strong> (flyby)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Munn Road powerlines:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brown Elfin <\/strong>(including an egg on a <em>Gaultheria<\/em> calyx)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gordon Hart&#8217;s home, Blue Valley Road:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Green Comma<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cedar Hairstreak<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mount Tolmie, 4pm:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Painted Lady<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Silvery Blues gave a wonderful show, with a female on a lupin and two males perched or flying around her. A very small ladybird &#8211; only about 3-4mm. We have never seen this before, but found several in a wet meadow. Found on newly felled Douglas Fir also in the Alberni Valley on May 1<sup>st<\/sup>.
