O\u2019Shaughnessy saw <strong>4 Western Tiger Swallowtails, 1 Lorquin\u2019s Admiral, 1 Cabbage White , 1 Western Spring Azure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Tatum writes.\u00a0 It is good to know that here are still a few butterflies around.\u00a0 At Swan Lake on July 25, I saw three <strong>Lorquin\u2019s Admirals\u00b8 <\/strong>and found two caterpillars of <strong>Red Admiral <\/strong>on the nettles.\u00a0 And this evening (July 26) I saw a <strong>Painted Lady<\/strong> and a <strong>Western Tiger Swallowtail <\/strong>at the top of Mount Douglas.<\/p>\n<p>I have very occasionally seen Western Spring Azures in late July.\u00a0 Perhaps the species is partially bivoltine (double-brooded), although Marie\u2019s butterfly looks slightly worn and may be a surviving spring butterfly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-22852 aligncenter\" top of Observatory Hill.\u00a0 Later, we checked out McIntyre Road reservoir and found the usual number of species of dragonflies although numbers of individual dragonflies were down.\u00a0 We did see one <strong>Black<\/strong> <strong>Saddlebags, 3 Common Green Darners,<\/strong> and one <strong>Cardinal Meadowhawk<\/strong>.\u00a0 Other dragonflies included <strong>Blue-eyed Darner, Blue Dasher,
