it permitted me only a silhouette for a photograph (it is a dorsal [<em>sic<\/em>] view).\u00a0 It bears a very close resemblance to a male European <strong><em>Chrysopilus cristatus<\/em><\/strong>, although I haven\u2019t been able to determine if that species occurs here.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-22514 100vw, 562px\" \/>Snipe fly <em>Chrysopilus <\/em>(possibly <em>cristatus<\/em>) (Dip.: Rhagionidae)\u00a0 Jeremy Tatum<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Apamea <\/em>is a large genus of noctuid moths.\u00a0 In the last few days, we have had three representative species on Invertebrate Alert:<br \/>\nJuly 4:\u00a0\u00a0 <em>A. cuculliformis<br \/>\n<\/em>July 7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>A. amputatrix<br \/>\n<\/em>July 8\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>A. <\/em>probably <em>atriclava<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And yesterday, Libby Avis had another one in Port Alberni:<br \/>\nJuly
