The caterpillar is a geometrid.&nbsp; I can&#8217;t tell for sure beyond that, but I&#8217;d guess that there&#8217;s a very good chance that it is a pug of the genus  <em>Eupithecia<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" originalheight=\"900\" originalwidth=\"1200\" name=\"\" title=\"rosemary.jpg\" height=\"447\" width=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/rosemary.jpg\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" class=\"\" alt=\"\" src=\"file:\/\/\/F:\/DOCUME%7E1\/tatum\/LOCALS%7E1\/Temp\/msohtml1\/01\/clip_image008.jpg\">Crab spider  <em>Misumena vatia <\/em>(Ara.: Thomisidae)&nbsp; Rosemary Jorna<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The caterpillar is a geometrid, probably <em>Eupithecia  <\/em>sp.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Rosemary sends a photograph of a ladybird beetle from Kemp Lake Road.&nbsp; I was hoping it was something different, but, alas, Scott Gilmore tells me that it is just the familiar and ubiquitous Multicoloured Asian Ladybird Beetle  <em>Harmonia axyridis.<\/em><em>&nbsp; <\/em>At any rate, it does illustrate how variable this beetle can be.&nbsp; Scott writes:&nbsp; I think this is the most variable insect I have ever seen. For a while I was thinking it was something different as well, as it does not have   the &quot;usual&quot; head coloration.
