April 11 morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>2023 April 11<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Aziza Cooper sends a photograph of the day-flying geometrid moth <em>Epirrhoe plebeculata<\/em> from Goldstream Heights.\u00a0 \u00a0This is a commonly-seen moth at this time of the year, and, writes Jeremy Tatum, I have been trying for years to find its caterpillar.\u00a0\u00a0 It is reputed to feed upon <em>Galium<\/em>, but I am all but certain that this is quite wrong.\u00a0 Please, then, all keep a look-out for this moth and watch it carefully to see if it oviposits.\u00a0 I would be very glad to have an egg \u2013 with foodplant \u2013 to rear it from egg to adult (and then, of course, to release the adult in suitable habitat when it emerges in the Munn Road area) for the Moss\u2019s Elfin butterfly.\u00a0\u00a0 There have been very few sightings in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ian Cooper sends another nice bunch of a variety of creatures from Colquitz River Park.<\/p>\n<p>First, a <strong>harvestman<\/strong>, and, for the sharp-eyed, just below it, a small springtail, <em>Orchesella villosa.<\/em><\/p>\n<p However, <em>bipunctata<\/em> is an introduction and there are not many verified records of it yet from our area.
