They were found while Ian was doing the Sooke Christmas Bird Count in Metchosin in the Rocky Point area on December 27.\u00a0 Dr Rob Cannings says it is the first December adult Odonata record he knows of in BC, and certainly Invertebrate Alert has no December Odonata records since the site started in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-20618 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/jbt_dragon-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"454\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/jbt_dragon-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/jbt_dragon-1021x1024.jpg 1021w, https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/jbt_dragon-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 454px) 100vw, 454px\" \/>Variegated Meadowhawk <em>Sympetrum corruptum\u00a0 <\/em>(Odo.: Libellulidae)<br \/>\nIan Cruickshank.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One day later, on December 28, Claudia Copley found a queen <strong>Yellow-faced Bee<\/strong> <strong><em>Bombus vosnesenskii<\/em><\/strong> on a sidewalk in James Bay.
