Jeremy Tatum responds:\u00a0 I think we\u2019d need to see a little bit more of the moth to be quite certain what it is. \u00a0It is a geometrid.\u00a0 At a wild guess I\u2019d say possibly Hydriomena manzanita<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Gordon Hart writes:\u00a0\u00a0 Today in our Highland District yard we had a comma sp<\/strong>. fly-by, and one Sara Orangetip. <\/strong>\u00a0At Francis\/King Park, I saw a Mourning Cloak<\/strong> (photo attached) and a Cabbage White<\/strong>. Mesoleuca gratulata<\/em><\/strong> has been everywhere this week.<\/p>\n

Back on March 16, I saw a similar small orange and black moth at the Pike Lake substation (photo also attached).<\/p>\n

At Mount Tolmie this afternoon\u00a0there were 2 <\/strong>California<\/strong> Tortoiseshells, 2 Spring Azures, 3 Cabbage Whites <\/strong>and one Sara Orangetip.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>The Western Spring Azure<\/strong> photo is the one from\u00a0Beacon Hill Park. Val George writes:\u00a0 The sun today, March 30, brought out some butterflies.\u00a0 At Observatory Hill I saw a Satyr Comma <\/strong>and a Cabbage White<\/strong>.\u00a0 At Mount Tolmie there were two California Tortoiseshells<\/strong> and two Cabbage Whites<\/strong>.\u00a0 One fresh-looking tortoiseshell was on the reservoir at the summit;\u00a0 the other, a rather beat-up one, was on a fir tree (photos attached).<\/p>\n
