total of eight species of butterflies.<\/p>\n<p>At Mount Tolmie:<br \/>\n<strong>Western Tiger Swallowtail &#8211; 3<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Pale Tiger Swallowtail &#8211; 2<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Lorquin&#8217;s Admiral &#8211; 3<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Cabbage White &#8211; 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At MacIntyre Reservoir:<br \/>\n<strong>Red Admiral &#8211; 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Cabbage White &#8211; 10+<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Essex Skipper &#8211; 10+\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At Island View Beach:<br \/>\n<strong>Red Admiral &#8211; 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Painted Lady &#8211; 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Cabbage White &#8211; 5<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Lorquin&#8217;s Admiral &#8211; 8<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Essex Skipper &#8211; 10+<\/strong> including one forma <em><strong>pallida<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>At Mt Tolmie, late afternoon:<br \/>\n<strong>West Coast Lady &#8211; 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Painted Lady &#8211; 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Pale Tiger Swallowtail &#8211; 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also photographed were two species of <strong>damselfly<\/strong>, two small moths, a sand wasp and an insect gall.<\/p>\n<p>A small geometrid moth landed on the lens of Gordon Hart\u2019s camera.\u00a0 While of course he was unable to photograph it, Aziza Cooper managed to get a snap!<\/p>\n<p>The galls shown, on a Nootka Rose, are formed by the larvae of a gall wasp of the Family Cynipidae<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-19180
