\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Ian Cooper photographed this clearwing moth<\/strong> along the E&N trail in View Royal, June 26.\u00a0 Thanks to Libby Avis for confirmation of Ian\u2019s identification as Synanthedon bibionipennis<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Libby writes that she saw a lot of them along the Somass Estuary on June 25.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Ian Cooper photographed a colourful spider.\u00a0 He writes: This extremely fast-moving spider spotted running frantically through the ground vegetation by the E&N Trail was one of the more unusual species I saw on June 26.\u00a0 Dr Robb Bennett writes: Wow! \u2013 one of our most photogenic spiders. One of the species of Castianeira<\/em><\/strong> ant mimics. I have trouble telling them apart without a microscope but it\u2019s probably either C. longipalpa<\/em><\/strong> or C. walsinghami<\/em><\/strong>. They are actually fairly common but often mistaken for ants.<\/p>\n
