\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Jeremy Tatum writes:\u00a0 This micro was on the wall of my Saanich apartment building this morning \u2013 identified by Libby Avis as a member of the difficult crambid Subfamily Scopariinae \u2013 a group that probably needs a lot of work to sort out the various genera and species.<\/p>\n

The fourth is an underside view \u2013 always a challenge to identify.\u00a0\u00a0 Jochen hazards a \u201cwild guess\u201d at Noctua pronuba.<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Jeremy Tatum\u00a0 <\/strong>writes:\u00a0 I\u2019d say it is better than a wild guess, but a very good guess indeed.\u00a0 The shape is just right for N.pronuba<\/em>.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know that this shape uniquely identifies it, but it is certainly characteristic, and I am happy to label it as a \u201cprobable\u201d!<\/p>\n

Ian Cooper photographed this spider on rough conifer bark in Colquitz Creek Park at 4:00 am, August 28.\u00a0 Dr Robb Bennett writes:\u00a0 I think that’s one of the long-jawed orbweavers (Tetragnathidae) that don’t have long jaws \u2013 we have 3 species (2 native, 1 introduced)\u00a0 of Metellina<\/em><\/strong> .\u00a0 \u00a0Most likely M. curtisi. <\/em><\/strong>But could be M. segmentata <\/em>or the introduced M. mimetoides.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Jeemy Tatum writes:\u00a0 At 5:00 pm today, Sunday August 28, two Red Admirals <\/strong>were on the Mount Tolmie reservoir.\u00a0 One was very worn \u2013 possibly the same one reported by Jeff Gaskin on August 21.\u00a0 In spite of being worn, both butterflies flew very strongly, chasing each other round and round as though it were spring.<\/p>\n
