{"id":14827,"date":"2021-08-29T11:00:27","date_gmt":"2021-08-29T18:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=14827"},"modified":"2021-08-31T16:33:35","modified_gmt":"2021-08-31T23:33:35","slug":"2021-august-29-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=14827","title":{"rendered":"2021 August 29 morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>2021 August 29 morning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More on <em>Colias<\/em><\/strong>:\u00a0 Mark Wynja\u00a0 now has four first-instar caterpillars of the <strong>Clouded Sulphur \u2013 <\/strong>apparently he unknowingly collected a fourth egg.\u00a0 He is going to attempt to rear them.\u00a0 What literature we have found suggests that this species is not easy to rear, so we wish Mark the best in his attempt.\u00a0 The foodplant that the eggs were found on is Beach Pea <em>Lathyrus japonicus<\/em>, growing among rocks and logs high up on the beach.<\/p>\n<p>Ron Flower writes:\u00a0 We went back to McIntyre Reservoir Saturday 28<sup>th<\/sup> August, where we found two <strong>Purplish Coppers <\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; \u00a0possibly the same that Val George found.\u00a0 They were just up the dirt road around the first big patch of the daisy-like flowers of the Scentless Mayweed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/IMG_7179-2-Large.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"691\" height=\"569\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Purplish Copper <em>Lycaena helloides <\/em>(Lep.: Lycaenidae)\u00a0 Ron Flower<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wendy Ansell writes: \u00a0I photographed a dragonfly at Glencoe Cove yesterday, Aug. 28.
