\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Jochen M\u00f6hr writes from Metchosin on June 22 that he saved a Cinnabar Moth Tyria jacobaeae<\/i><\/b> from drowning in his dog Lorbas\u2019s water dish.\u00a0\u00a0 Other than that he continues to see many Cabbage Whites<\/b> and several Swallowtails \u2013 Pale <\/b>and definitely Anise. <\/b>\u00a0He also saw his first Lorquin\u2019s Admiral<\/b>.\u00a0 He sends a picture of his resident Lorquin\u2019s Admiral.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Jeremy Tatum writes: We have had recent reports of brightly-coloured butterflies in Uplands Park, though we think it possible that some of these observations might actually have been of Sheep Moths.\u00a0 If viewers visit the Park, perhaps they\u2019d let us know what they see.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 On June 22, Jeff Gaskin saw in Layritz Park 5 Common Ringlets<\/b> and 31 Essex Skippers. <\/b>\u00a0He writes that another Ringlet<\/b> was at Quick’s Bottom.\u00a0 Lorquin’s Admirals<\/b> are very plentiful now\u00a0\u00a0 –\u00a0 he had a total of <\/span>26<\/span><\/b> on June 22\u00a0 in the northern half of Colquitz River Park, which includes Copley Park.\u00a0 On June 21,\u00a0he saw a total of 36<\/b> in southern portions of Colquitz River Park which includes Hyacinth, Swan Creek, and Cuthbert Holmes Park.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Val George writes:\u00a0\u00a0 Yesterday, June 23, I checked out Nanaimo River Road. for butterflies.\u00a0 In an hour or so there I saw:\u00a0 5 Clodius Parnassians<\/b>, about a dozen Western Tiger Swallowtails<\/b>, 2 Pale Tiger Swallowtails<\/b>, 2 <\/span>Cabbage Whites<\/span><\/b>, one Western Spring Azure<\/b>, and a comma<\/b> that wouldn’t settle to allow me to determine its species.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 On June 23 Judy Spearing saw (and provided a good description of!) a Mourning Cloak <\/b>caterpillar crossing over a path in the Vanalman\/Copley Park area heading to the grassy area and then a wood fence.\u00a0 Maybe looking for a fence to pupate on?<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Steven Roias reports that a while back a Polyphemus Moth <\/b>laid some eggs on a table umbrella.\u00a0 Now one of the eggs has hatched (and the rest are doubtless doing so even as I type) \u2013 so he now has a problem!<\/p>\n
