from their chrysalides in the last few days.\u00a0 Commas habitually rest face downwards.\u00a0\u00a0 Both are females.\u00a0 Unfortunately I didn\u2019t manage to photograph the uppersides. \u00a0The Anise, Western Tiger<\/strong> and<strong> Pale Tiger Swallowtail, Painted Lady, Lorquin\u2019s Admiral, Essex Skipper <\/strong>and<strong> Cabbage White.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Val George sends photos of the two <strong>tiger swallowtails<\/strong>, suggesting that I show them side-by-side to show the features that I mentioned in the June 18 posting.\u00a0 Alas, my computer skills are only up to showing them one above the other!\u00a0\u00a0 Viewers will notice that I one is probably <em>Meconema thalassina<\/em>.\u00a0 We don\u2019t see many katydids here, and I believe this species, the one most often seen, is not native to our area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p
