{"id":1381,"date":"2015-04-06T01:33:32","date_gmt":"2015-04-06T08:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=1381"},"modified":"2016-03-13T16:38:09","modified_gmt":"2016-03-13T23:38:09","slug":"april-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=1381","title":{"rendered":"April 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><html> <head> <meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=iso-8859-1\"> <\/p>\n<style type=\"text\/css\" style=\"display:none\"><!--P{margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;} --><\/style>\n<p> <\/head> <body dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-size:12pt;color:#000000;background-color:#FFFFFF;font-family:Calibri,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"> <\/p>\n<p><strong>2015 April 5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>The last few days have been either cold or wet, and we have had no reports of butterflies for a week.&nbsp; However, today was sunny and, if one could get out of the wind, not too cold, and some butterflies were on the wing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; David Robichaud reported that <strong>Western Elfin<\/strong> butterflies are flying at Government House this week, along with <strong>Cabbage White, Sara Orangetip <\/strong>and<strong> Western Spring Azure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong>Jeremy Tatum and Bill Savale saw one each of <strong>Cabbage White, Sara Orangetip, Western Spring Azure<\/strong> and <strong>Mourning Cloak<\/strong> at Latoria Creek Park today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Also today, Jeremy Tatum saw a very pretty little geometrid moth with bright orange hindwings at Tower Point. &nbsp; It was <strong><em>Dasyfidonia avuncularia<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; a lifer for him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; Aziza Cooper writes: Today the butterfly walk group [that&#8217;s that first of this year&#8217;s monthly VNHS butterfly walks that Aziza runs] saw one <strong>Propertius Duskywing<\/strong> and a <strong>Spring Azure<\/strong> at Mount Tolmie. We went on to the Government House grounds where there were about six <strong>Spring Azures<\/strong> and eight <strong>Cabbage Whites<\/strong>. We saw two <strong>Cabbage Whites<\/strong> mating.&nbsp;&nbsp; We also saw a Brown Creeper catch and eat a moth with a fat body and wings with a black and white pattern.
