{"id":1316,"date":"2015-03-14T20:40:50","date_gmt":"2015-03-15T03:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=1316"},"modified":"2016-03-13T16:38:10","modified_gmt":"2016-03-13T23:38:10","slug":"march-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=1316","title":{"rendered":"March 14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><html> <head> <meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=iso-8859-1\"> <\/p>\n<style type=\"text\/css\" style=\"display:none\"><!--P{margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;} --><\/style>\n<p> <\/head> <body dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-size:12pt;color:#000000;background-color:#FFFFFF;font-family:Calibri,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"> <\/p>\n<p><strong>2015 March 14<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Gerry and Wendy Ansell write that there was a <strong>Mourning Cloak<\/strong> on Thursday March&nbsp; 12 by the grassy area by the Swan Lake Nature House.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Barbara McGenere writes:&nbsp; On March 12, Mike and I saw 3 fresh male <strong> Sara Orangetips<\/strong> on the lower south slope of Mount Douglas.&nbsp; Two were seen together briefly, but mostly they were flying low, back and forth over the grassy Garry Oak slope.&nbsp;&nbsp; Also at Mount Douglas was 1 <strong>Satyr Comma<\/strong> in the forest, basking in the sun, low on a tree trunk.&nbsp; Also on March 12, there was 1<strong> Satyr Comma<\/strong> along Lohbrunner Road, and 2 in Outerbridge Park.&nbsp; Also on March 12, was a <strong>Cabbage White<\/strong> in my neighbours&#8217; garden which has many plants in flower right now.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Jeremy Tatum writes: &nbsp;Barbara&#8217;s sighting of a Sara Orangetip reminded me to check my pupa of one, which I have had since last year.&nbsp; Here&#8217;s a photo of it.&nbsp; The Orangetip pupae are pretty clever.&nbsp; When they are first formed in the spring they are green.
