{"id":12582,"date":"2020-10-22T19:06:35","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T02:06:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=12582"},"modified":"2020-10-27T10:14:21","modified_gmt":"2020-10-27T17:14:21","slug":"october-22-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=12582","title":{"rendered":"October 22"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>2020 October 22<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Ian Cooper photographed this spider\u00a0 <span class=\"x__mh6 x__wsc\"><span class=\"x__3oh- x__58nk\">in a hollow of a large conifer&#8217;s rough bark <\/span><\/span>at dusk at Colquitz River Park.\u00a0 Dr Robb Bennett comments:<\/p>\n<p>If it is a &#8220;relatively&#8221; big spider\u00a0 it may be a female <em>Pimoa altioculata<\/em>. If small, then it could be one of several linyphiids, e.g., a species of <em>Bathyphantes<\/em> (among whom the pimoids used to be classified).<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Tatum writes: A subsequent photograph of it next to the tip of a key shows that it was really quite a small spider, and further close-ups showed that it is <em>Bathyphantes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Further comments by Dr Bennett after seeing the additional photographs:\u00a0 I\u2019m pretty sure now that this spider is a female linyphiid in the genus <em>Bathyphantes<\/em>.
