margin: 5px;\" src=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/jtatum\/AppData\/Local\/Temp\/msohtmlclip1\/01\/clip_image006.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pastedImage.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/pastedImage-67.png\" name=\"null\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Female Western Pondhawk <em>Erythemis collocata <\/em> (Odo.: Libellulidae)\u00a0 Barbara Dashwood<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 Rosemary Jorna photographed a <strong>Bumble Bee <\/strong>in the Kemp Lake area yesterday, dutifully photographing it from several angles.\u00a0 Annie Pang writes:\u00a0 I have ruled out <em>B. fervidus <\/em>because they have black heads and so I do think it is a male <strong><em>B. flavifrons<\/em><\/strong><strong>, Yellow Head Bumble Bee,<\/strong> and I will tell you why I think so.\u00a0 There is no orange band on the abdomen which would indicate a female, and it has a rounded bottom (females have pointy ones with stingers) and no pollen sacs (females pollinate) on hind legs.\u00a0 But that is the best I can do, and I still could be wrong.\u00a0 I just posted the pictures Rosemary took, on Bumble Bees of North America Facebook page.\u00a0 We have some good bee people running it so I am hoping to get a confirm or correct on my ID.\u00a0 I&#8217;d forgotten I was a member!\u00a0\u00a0 My compliments to the photographer though.\u00a0 She did well.<\/p>\n<p>So, we&#8217;ll see if Annie gets a response, and thank her for her efforts.<\/p>\n<p>ADDED LATER:\u00a0\u00a0 Confirmed!\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s a male <strong><em>Bombus flavifrons<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Well done, Rosemary!\u00a0 Well done, Annie!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"width: 556px;
