{"id":11353,"date":"2020-07-05T19:45:28","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T02:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=11353"},"modified":"2020-07-05T19:47:13","modified_gmt":"2020-07-06T02:47:13","slug":"july-5-evening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vicnhs.bc.ca\/?p=11353","title":{"rendered":"July 5 evening"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>2020 July 5 evening<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>Continuing with Mr E&#8217;s queue of difficult ones.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; First a fungus covered with numerous springtails and a few mites.&nbsp; It took several seconds for Dr Heather Proctor, University of Alberta, to reply to my query re the mites.&nbsp; Her area of expertise is mites, so I didn&#8217;t really expect her to work on the   springtails &#8211; but she had a go at them, too!&nbsp;&nbsp; This is what she wrote, as I say just seconds after I asked!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; The long-legged mites belong to the prostigmatan family Cocceupodidae (or Eupodidae, depending on whether you accept Cocceupodidae as a separate family). Probably the genus  <strong><em>Linopodes<\/em><\/strong>.
