Mark Wynja writes:  Today while exploring the Northwest Bay Logging Roads I found 2 Dun Skippers. They were about 1.5 km apart up towards Rhododendron Lake.  1 Western Sulphur and 2 Margined Whites were the other highlights.

Jeremy Tatum writes:  Three of Mark’s photographs will also be a challenge to the botanists.   The butterfly in the first photograph has some white spots on the forewing.  I believe this indicates that it is a female.

Jeremy Tatum writes:  This afternoon I walked from Island View Beach to the tip of Cordova Spit.  Not many butterflies, but here are the few I saw:  6 Essex Skippers,  1 Woodland Skipper (my first of the year – maybe the first reported to Invert Alert, I’m not sure), 12 Cabbage Whites, 2 Lorquin’s Admirals, 1 Painted Lady.  I didn’t go into fields inland to see if there were any Ringlets there – there probably are.

This evening at 6:30 pm, 4 Painted Ladies and 2 Lorquin’s Admirals at the top of Mount Tolmie.
